Anxiety

Anxiety can best be described as excessive thoughts of worry that a person cannot control. These thoughts hinder people's functioning by interrupting their concentration, making tasks difficult to complete. Anxiety often includes fatigue, irritability, muscle tension, and disturbed sleep. Some people's anxiety occurs only under certain circumstances, or when they are exposed to something specific. Feelings of anxiousness can occur at any time, and may seem unprovoked and frightening. Anxiety can be felt at different levels of intensity, causing a range of symptoms that include mild distracting thoughts to a feeling of terror and impending doom.
