Eating Disorders
Eating disorders are characterized by extreme disturbances in people's eating behavior and relationship with food. Anorexia Nervosa is characterized by a person's fear of gaining weight, refusal to maintain a healthy body weight, and an unrealistic perception of his or her body shape and size. Bulimia Nervosa is characterized by binge eating and inappropriate methods of maintaining weight by eliminating the food eaten from one's body. A binge, is eating a larger amount of food than most people would in a short period of time, and a lack of control over it.
